In preparation for Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs underwent a bullpen adjustment, necessitating a series of roster maneuvers.
The Cubs announced the placement of relief pitcher Julian Merryweather on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain, as reported by The Athletic and various other sources. To fill Merryweather’s spot on the roster, Chicago summoned Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa.

His commendable performance at the start of this season boasted a 1.93 ERA in four appearances, with six strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.
During the preceding season, the right-hander amassed a record of 5-1 with a 3.38 ERA across 69 games, logging 72 innings while striking out 98 batters and issuing 36 walks. Noteworthy contributions included two saves and 17 holds.
