Joe Flacco reveals shocking reason why he did not sign with Cleveland Browns…
Joe Flacco surprised many football enthusiasts and pundits this offseason by opting not to re-sign with the Cleveland Browns, despite a commendable performance in the 2023 season. Flacco’s contributions helped the Browns achieve an impressive 11-6 record and secure a postseason berth, despite facing numerous challenges due to injuries to key players. However, the reason behind Flacco’s departure remained undisclosed until recently, when the veteran quarterback shed light on the matter.
In a revelation that caught many off guard, Flacco expressed his surprise at not being offered a contract extension by the Browns and reiterated his desire to continue with the team for another season. Nevertheless, it became apparent that the Browns’ front office believed that Flacco’s style of play was not a perfect fit for their offensive scheme. Consequently, they opted to sign Jameis Winston instead, resulting in Flacco seeking opportunities elsewhere.
Rumors had circulated regarding potential contract disputes and concerns about Flacco assuming a backup role behind Deshaun Watson in the upcoming season, which could have led to friction within the team. Given Flacco’s impressive performance in relief of Watson in 2023, amassing over 1,600 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, many viewed him as a viable starting option over Watson, potentially fueling controversy if he remained with the team.

Flacco, a seasoned veteran who has been a mainstay in the NFL since 2008, began his illustrious career with the Baltimore Ravens, where he clinched a Super Bowl victory and earned the Super Bowl MVP accolade in 2013. Following his tenure with the Ravens, Flacco had brief stints with the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets before his tenure with the Browns.
Although Flacco expressed a desire to continue his tenure with the Browns into the 2024 season, he remains determined to make a significant impact with the Indianapolis Colts if given the opportunity. The question lingers whether the Browns made the right decision in parting ways with Flacco, a seasoned but aging quarterback, or if they should have retained his services for another season.
