Update on Deshaun Watson’s Week 1 Status from Browns Coach Kevin Stefanski…

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is making significant progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery last November, and recent updates shed light on his status for the upcoming season opener.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski shared the latest developments on Monday, March 25, during the NFL Owners’ Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Speaking to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Stefanski expressed satisfaction with Watson’s rehabilitation, stating, “He’s doing everything he’s supposed to, so he’s right on track. He’s right where he is supposed to be, so I’d anticipate that he’s throwing this spring with us.”

When asked about Watson’s prospects of starting in Week 1 of the regular season, Stefanski remained cautiously optimistic, acknowledging the ongoing rehab process. “We’ll see [Watson] in April and we’ll just continue that rehab,” Stefanski remarked. “I’ll stay out of it, and the doctors and trainers will tell me when he’s ready.”

Earlier reports from Cabot indicated that Watson has been actively training alongside tight end David Njoku and his private quarterbacks coach, Quincy Avery, in Los Angeles. This collaborative effort appears to be paying dividends as Watson progresses through his recovery regimen.

With the offseason program commencing on April 15, Watson is expected to be a fixture in Cleveland, participating in conditioning sessions and mandatory minicamps through June. While the Browns intend to prioritize Watson’s health and readiness, he is slated to participate in organized team activities, including full-team drills and the minicamp.

As Watson gears up for his return to action, he will be greeted by new faces in the Browns’ offensive arsenal, including wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. These additions signal a potentially dynamic partnership as Watson aims to lead the Browns to success in the upcoming season.
