Wanderers CEO Neil Hart Provides Key Updates Ahead of Summer Plans

Wanderers Football Club is gearing up for significant improvements at its Lostock training ground this summer, according to CEO Neil Hart.

In a recent statement, Hart outlined plans to enhance various aspects of the training facility, including pitches, drainage systems, and gym facilities. These upgrades aim to provide a better environment for the senior squad, B Team, and Academy, who utilize the site daily.

Among the planned enhancements are improvements to pitch quality and drainage, addressing recurring issues faced during winter months. Efforts are also underway to resolve an ongoing insurance claim related to the rebuilding of the ‘dome,’ an indoor training facility damaged during Storm Malik in January 2022. Additionally, extensions to the gym facility are on the agenda.

Hart emphasized the club’s commitment to improving Lostock, highlighting the importance of providing players with the best possible training environment. He revealed that a capital expenditure budget has been allocated for these upgrades, signaling the board’s dedication to investing in the facility.

Regarding the academy status, Hart clarified that there are currently no immediate plans to revert to Category Two. However, he hinted that such a move could be considered in the future, particularly if the club achieves promotion to the Championship. Wanderers downgraded to Category Three status in 2020 as part of cost-saving measures but may reassess their academy status in the long term.

While discussions about upgrading to Category Two are not imminent, Hart indicated that facility improvements and the club’s standing in higher leagues could influence future decisions. He emphasized the importance of strategic planning and indicated that facility upgrades would play a crucial role in any potential reevaluation of academy status.

Wanderers are set to embark on a series of upgrades at their Lostock training ground this summer, aiming to provide an improved training environment for players across all levels. While there are currently no plans to upgrade academy status, the club remains open to revisiting this decision in the future, particularly in light of potential advancements on and off the pitch.
