Kevin Stefanski Offers Insights on Proposed Trade Deadline Extension…
In the realm of NFL shake-ups, the Cleveland Browns are eyeing significant shifts.
Recently, news surfaced that Browns’ General Manager Andrew Berry has put forth a proposal to extend the trade deadline by a few weeks.
When queried about his stance on this matter, Cleveland’s head coach Kevin Stefanski expressed his backing for the general manager’s initiative, indicating a unified front within the team (via Zac Jackson on Twitter).
Traditionally, the trade deadline falls on the first Tuesday following Week 8, a placement that seemed logical, considering it coincided with the midpoint of the season for most teams.
Stefanski was asked about the Browns’ proposal to move the trade deadline to after Week 10. It could go to vote here this week.

However, with the NFL schedule now expanded to 17 games, the logic behind extending the deadline becomes evident.
Under this proposed alteration, the trade deadline would be pushed to the first Tuesday after Week 10, positioning it closer to the second week of November.
This adjustment would provide teams with a clearer understanding of their standing, enabling them to discern whether they are inclined towards selling or buying players.
For instance, a team commencing the season with a 4-3 record might witness a downward spiral in the latter half, dissuading them from making significant moves at the trade deadline under the current timing.
Kevin Stefanski talked this morning at the owners meetings: Watson is in a “good place,” Chubb is in the building rehabbing every day, no word on Brazil and he still won’t say who’s calling plays.

Reports suggest that the league is poised to vote on this proposal imminently, and it’s reassuring to see a consensus within the Browns organization regarding this potential change.
Notably, the Browns were relatively quiet in the lead-up to the trade deadline last season.
Nevertheless, the proposed extension could potentially prove advantageous for Cleveland in the forthcoming season or in the years ahead.
