The Florida Panthers have introduced the cutting-edge Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale, marking a significant development in the transformation of the historic FTL War Memorial. The collaboration between public and private sectors has resulted in a top-notch facility that promises to benefit the local community extensively. President & CEO of the Panthers, Matt Caldwell, expressed excitement about expanding the team’s presence with this facility, emphasizing its role as both a premier practice venue for players and a community center.
Designed by ROSSETTI and constructed by Lemartec, the Baptist Health IcePlex is a modern complex featuring two NHL-regulation-sized ice rinks, including additional amenities such as curling lanes, LED displays, and vibrant lighting. It also houses Pantherland powered by FLA Team Shop, a flagship retail store offering a range of merchandise and interactive experiences for fans. The facility boasts various dining options, multi-use party rooms, and locker rooms to accommodate diverse needs.
Opening to the public on March 21, the IcePlex will offer a wide array of programs for all ages, including public skating sessions, hockey classes, leagues, and camps. Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis highlighted the significance of this partnership with the Panthers in providing new recreational opportunities for residents and enhancing community engagement.
To celebrate its opening, the IcePlex will host a Community Festival on April 6, offering free programming, food trucks, games, and more. Additionally, ‘The Federal,’ a restaurant overlooking Holiday Park, is set to open in late April, further enriching the visitor experience.
Furthermore, the Panthers are committed to fostering girls’ hockey programs alongside traditional offerings, aiming to provide inclusive opportunities for all. Interested individuals can stay updated on programming through social media or the facility’s website.
