Deshaun Watson Might Get Back Together With His Former Wide Receiver Teammate, the Clemson Hero…
Deshaun Watson, who hasn’t accomplished anything in his first two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, is about to embark on a very important season.
In the third year, Deshaun Watson needs to figure it out.
Because of a shoulder injury and an eleven-game suspension in 2022, Watson has only appeared in 12 games over the course of two seasons. He only made six starts as a result in 2023.
The Browns will have a serious problem if Deshaun Watson doesn’t measure up to the expectations for the upcoming season. Two years ago, they gave Watson a 230 million dollar promise, and they would still have that money to provide him for the next two years.
Watson now has another weapon for the season after the Browns acquired wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos last week. Additionally, Watson might get back together with a former Clemson teammate.
Hunter Renfrow Could Be Desired by the Cleveland Browns
The Athletic’s Zac Jackson claims that the Browns “will at least discuss adding Hunter Renfrow.”
Renfrow has played for the Las Vegas Raiders for the last five seasons in the National Football League. With 103 receptions, 1,038 yards, and nine touchdowns in 2021, Renfrow had a fantastic season. However, after the Raiders acquired ace wide receiver Davante Adams through trade, Renfrow had to give up some ground to him.
Renfrow was cut by the Raiders on Wednesday after only accumulating 585 yards and two scores in 27 games over the previous two seasons.
Renfrow caught the winning touchdown against Alabama to win the 2016 National Championship. Renfrow and Watson have a long history together, dating back to their time playing on the same field at Clemson.
The present wide receiver room at Browns
Renfrow would probably start training camp as the fourth or fifth wide receiver if the Browns signed him. Cleveland already has 2023 third-round pick Cedric Tillman, who saw a lot of action late in the season, Elijah Moore, Jerry Jeudy, Amari Cooper, and standout tight end David Njoku, who will take targets away from the entire receiving room.
If Renfrow were to visit Cleveland, it would be beneficial to have him here. The Browns might try to send Watson out to see if their friendship with Renfrow can calm him down if he is having trouble during the season. Watson knows Watson well, and the team still needs some receiver depth.
