Za’Darius Smith, Jerry Jeudy, and a host of other players have bolstered the Browns roster.
While not all moves are considered “big” or official, the Cleveland Browns have been active in the first round of NFL free agency. We previously reported that the team appeared to have nine roster spots available on their 53-man roster before free agency.
Since then, general manager Andrew Berry has brought the roster considerably closer to full by acquiring several outside free agents on one-year contracts, keeping a few key players, and trading for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
For the time being, we’ll presume that every player who has signed in free agency thus far has some sort of guaranteed salary (Chris will shortly be going over contracts for the website) and will be added to the team. Additionally, we anticipate that every trade that has been rumored will close.
Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, and Dorian Thompson Robinson are the most likely quarterbacks on the 53-man roster for the Browns. – 10 players: Jedrick Wills, Joel Bitonio, Ethan Pocic, Wyatt Teller, Jack Conklin, Dawand Jones, James Hudson III, Luke Wypler, Hakeem Adeniji, Michael Dunn – 4 WR: Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, David Bell – 5 TE: David Njoku, Jordan Akins, Giovanni Ricci
Total offenses: 25
Five defensive tackles (DT): Dalvin Tomlinson, Maurice Hurst, Shelby Harris, Quinton Jefferson, Siaki Ika; five linebackers (LB): Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Jordan Hicks, Devin Bush, Mohamoud Diabate; four cornerbacks (CB): Denzel Ward, Martin Emerson Jr., Greg Newsome II, Cameron Mitchell, Tony Brown – 4 Defense total: 23 – 5 S: Juan Thornhill, Grant Delpit, D’Anthony Bell, and Ronnie Hickman
Special Teams: Corey Bo, Dustin Hopkins, and Charley Hughlett
Quite simply, with the 51 guys listed above and the five draft picks incoming, at least three will not be able to make the team. Obviously, injuries play a role and Berry could still look to move players or picks.
The Browns also have 18 other players under contract for 2024. While none have any guaranteed money on their contracts but LB Tony Fields II, CB Kahlef Hailassie, WR Michael Woods and OL Drew Forbes are among the group that will likely be on the team’s 90-man roster for sure.
