The Redlegs lose another experienced superstar…

“I Feel Excellent” Joey Votto Signs With The Blue Jays, Confident He Can “Still Bang”…

Joey Votto is poised to inject some hometown energy into the Toronto Blue Jays as he readies for spring training this Saturday. Despite undergoing shoulder surgery, the seasoned slugger feels in prime condition and is optimistic about his performance.

Expressing his enthusiasm in a message to The Athletic, Votto emphasized his excellent physical state and confidence in his abilities, stating, “I feel great. No pain. It’s a pleasure. I believe I can still deliver on the field.”

At 40 years old, Votto has signed a minor-league contract with the Jays, aiming for a return to the majors. He eagerly anticipates getting back into action, drawing comparisons to his early days with the Cincinnati Reds.

Reflecting on his journey from being drafted out of Toronto’s Richview Collegiate Institute in 2002 to achieving MVP accolades in 2010 and a remarkable 17-year stint with the Reds, Votto acknowledges the end of that chapter in November when the Reds declined his option. Now, his focus is squarely on pursuing a World Series title with the Blue Jays.

Approaching this opportunity with humility, Votto views it as a chance to contribute positively to the team’s success and potentially bring a championship back to Toronto. He harbors no specific expectations but aims to prove his worth and demonstrate his enduring talent, particularly after experiencing a challenging conclusion to his tenure with the Reds in 2023.

With his sights set on the big leagues once again, Votto is ready to make a significant impact and continue adding to his storied baseball career with the Blue Jays.
