The Bears confirmed the re-sign of the 36-year-old snapper ahead of the trade deadline…

The Chicago Bears have secured the return of long snapper Patrick Scales for another season with a one-year contract agreement, as announced by his agent on social media. Scales, who holds the distinction of being the Bears’ longest-serving player, will continue his tenure with the team.

Since joining the Bears in 2015, Scales has participated in 120 games, with an absence in 2017 due to injury. His presence has been notable, particularly in the success of the Bears’ field goal unit, boasting a 92.1% conversion rate last season, ranking ninth in the NFL.

Special teams coordinator Richard Hightower has commended Scales, alongside punter/holder Trenton Gill, for their contribution to the achievements of kicker Cairo Santos. Hightower emphasized the camaraderie and cohesion among the trio, highlighting Scales’ role as a leader and motivator within the group. He credited Scales’ energy and charisma for fostering a positive dynamic that benefits the entire unit.
