Release: Oilers acquire Stecher from Arizona…
The Edmonton Oilers have completed a trade with the Arizona Coyotes, acquiring defenseman Troy Stecher along with a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. In exchange, the Oilers have sent their 2027 fourth-round pick to Arizona.
Troy Stecher, aged 29, arrives in Edmonton from Arizona, where he has played 47 games this season, contributing one goal and four assists. Standing at 5-foot-10 and shooting right, Stecher has averaged 18:26 minutes of ice time per game, while also making 67 blocked shots, 53 hits, and 11 takeaways.

Originally from Richmond, B.C., Stecher has played for various NHL teams over eight seasons, including the Vancouver Canucks, Los Angeles Kings, Calgary Flames, and Coyotes. Throughout his career, he has amassed 19 goals and 89 assists in 487 games, with additional playoff experience, having played 21 postseason games and scoring four goals with three assists.
Stecher signed a one-year contract with Arizona worth $1.1 million AAV on July 1, 2023, and will become an unrestricted free agent at the conclusion of the current season.
