Swindon Town’s striker, Charlie Austin, remains silent on his future at the County Ground beyond the current season, as his contract is set to expire in the summer.
After his stint in Australia with Brisbane Roar, Austin returned to Swindon Town in 2022. However, with his contract ending soon, the 34-year-old forward has chosen not to divulge details about his plans beyond this season. According to a report by the Swindon Advertiser, Austin stated, “I have had the conversations [about next year] with my wife, but that is nothing to do with you guys, so we will have to wait and see.”
Austin has been a valuable asset for Swindon, boasting significant experience and a knack for scoring goals. Since his return to the Robins, he has contributed 18 goals in 50 appearances, with nine goals in the current season alone.
Having initially joined Swindon as a young player from Poole Town in 2010, Austin enjoyed success before moving on to clubs like Burnley, QPR, Southampton, and West Brom, even featuring in the Premier League before his stint in Australia.
Despite scoring four goals in 11 appearances for Brisbane Roar in the A-League, Austin opted to return home. Swindon Town now awaits his decision on whether he will prolong his stay with the club or seek new challenges elsewhere in the upcoming season.
Currently positioned 17th in League Two, Swindon Town finds itself comfortably in mid-table. They are gearing up for a challenging away fixture against league leaders Mansfield Town following a recent 1-1 draw with Harrogate Town.
