Jonathan Greenard ‘Definitely Wants’ to Re-Sign With Texans…

The Houston Texans have interest in re-signing defensive end Jonathan Greenard. And according to Greenard, the feeling is mutual.

The Houston Texans had one of the most impactful pass rushes in the NFL in 2023, led by Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., and veteran Jonathan Greenard.

Unfortunately for the Texans, one-half of that combination in Greenard is set to become a free agent – and likely a highly pursued one – this offseason, where he will command a projected $47.5 million over three years, per Pro Football Focus.

On Tuesday, DeMeco Ryans noted that the Texans have an interest in bringing Greenard back to Houston. And in a recent interview with KPRC 2, Greenard revealed that interest is mutual.

“Man, at this point, they know I love Houston,” Greenard said. ” I know I definitely want to come back, but as we know, that’s not up to me. At this point, I can’t do much more. I feel like I put my portfolio out there and closed that chapter, and the rest will take care of itself. If they have me back, I’ll be 10 toes down, but if not, it’s just a game. I’ll definitely appreciate it if this was the last time.

Entering his fifth NFL season, Greenard has spent the last four with Houston, and throughout the first three, he was largely inconsistent.

And while he is appreciative of both the opportunity and the loyalty Houston has shown him, he knows that the final decision is ultimately up to the team.

“I’m appreciative of the opportunity that Houston has given me,” Grennard said. “They stayed with me throughout the years. They could’ve gone left at any time through the injuries and all that and they stuck beside me. All I can be is thankful for the opportunity that they have given me. If this is the last rodeo, I appreciate everything, but it’s not for me to decide.”
