“I Felt This Pain!”: Ex-Ravens LB Ray Lewis issues honest verdict on AFC Championship Loss…

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson gives a major reason behind huge decision

Former Ravens linebacker and two-time champion says Baltimore can use that loss as motivation to be next year’s champion.

On Sunday, most Ravens players had to watch the Chiefs beat the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII from their couch or their favorite sports bar. I say most, because one notable player – quarterback Lamar Jackson – indicated he would not be watching.

“Too raw, I’m good. I don’t wanna watch the game,” Jackson said via social media.

That’s totally understandable, as the loss no doubt still hurts, even two weeks later. But one former Raven thinks the team can use that loss as motivation to do better next season.

When asked by Tico Sports’ David Andrade if the Ravens can bounce back next season, Lewis said: “You can only come back when you get this close. I felt this pain. And so to feel that, you got to understand there is something else I need to finish. I went through that in 2011, and I told my team after that, we will be back in this same place next year to finish this. So that’s the mindset.”

Lewis has been there. He and his Ravens team lost in the AFC Championship game 23-20 to the Patriots in 2011, only to come back the next season and beat the 49ers 34-31.

Lewis continued, “It’s hard to beat a focused champion. And it’s rewarding when you do lose and come back and do it.”
