The 2023–24 NFL season for the Houston Texans was unforgettable. The Texans won the AFC South the very next season after being selected with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s now acknowledged that C.J. Stroud, the rookie quarterback, got Houston this far.

Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was named Rookie of the Year by NFL fans. Prominent players like Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta were in this fiercely contested class. What then did Stroud accomplish to merit the fans’ appreciation?
Stroud finished with 4,108 yards of throwing, 23 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. In addition, he guided the Texans past the Cleveland Browns in the playoffs. By doing so, Stroud created NFL rookie playoff history.

The Texans have a promising future in store. Stroud and rookie head coach DeMeco Ryans seem to be just getting started, as Stroud is still in the first year of his rookie deal. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts, who finished just behind the Texans this season, present them with fierce competition from the remainder of the AFC South.
