Kirk Cousins attracts ‘real’ attention at Gophers-Michigan State game…

The proposed blockbuster trade involving Justin Jefferson and the Patriots has stirred up significant speculation. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins garnered attention as he attended the Gophers-Michigan State game, witnessing his alma mater’s defeat by the Golden Gophers.

Among the crowd of over 8,000 fans at the Big Ten clash, Cousins, a Michigan State graduate, was seated behind the Spartans’ bench. He received a warm welcome from the mascot, Goldy Gopher, who presented him with a Minnesota jersey, prompting a lighthearted rejection from Cousins. However, the joyous atmosphere soured for Cousins as he watched his former team falter in the second half, ultimately succumbing to a 59-56 loss against the Gophers, who limited the Spartans to just 11 points in the final 13:16 of the game.

Despite being a resident of Rosemount, Minnesota, as the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, Cousins recently found himself back in his home state of Michigan, undergoing rehabilitation for his Achilles tendon. With his impending free agency looming if he doesn’t re-sign with the Vikings before March 13, Cousins’ future hangs in the balance.

However, he has indicated that serious discussions won’t commence until March, suggesting that his presence at the game was merely coincidental and not indicative of any contract negotiations. While he enjoyed prime seating at the recent game, he was more accessible during the Twins-Blue Jays matchup last October, mingling with fans along the third base line as he witnessed the Twins’ first playoff victory in nearly two decades.
