Ken Dorsey Reveals Why He’s Excited To “Push And Drive” Deshaun Watson, Confident In Taking Him To The “Next Level”…

Deshaun Watson’s journey with the Cleveland Browns has encountered more moments on the sidelines than in the spotlight since his trade to Ohio in March 2022. Hindered by injuries, Watson spent the majority of the 2023 season as a spectator. Despite this, in the limited six games he started, the Browns showcased a commendable 5-1 record. His season finale against Baltimore was particularly noteworthy, completing a flawless 14-for-14 in the second half and leading a comeback victory with a final score of 33-31.

Ken Dorsey, a recent addition to the Browns’ coaching staff, expressed his eagerness for the quarterback during a press conference on Monday. Dorsey, having just completed a two-year tenure as the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, exuded enthusiasm for working with Deshaun Watson. He emphasized the opportunity to prove Watson’s standing as one of the league’s top quarterbacks and his potential to contribute to numerous victories in the upcoming season.

Despite the positive outlook, the Watson experiment in Cleveland faced challenges on the field. The 2023 statistics revealed Watson’s completion of 61 percent of his passes, totaling 1,115 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Additionally, he rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on the ground, averaging 5.5 yards per carry.

Undeterred by these setbacks, Dorsey acknowledged the silver lining in Watson’s eagerness for coaching and the drive to improve. According to Dorsey, Watson actively seeks coaching and welcomes being pushed and driven to enhance his skills. The new addition to the coaching staff is ready to build upon the foundation laid by the existing personnel.

Dorsey’s confidence in Watson stems from insights received from Kevin and the team, highlighting Watson’s genuine desire to be coached and his commitment to improvement. Despite Watson’s 12-game stint in Cleveland over the last two years, accumulating 2,217 passing yards, a 60 percent completion rate, 14 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, the journey may not have been all about touchdowns and glory. However, with Dorsey on board, it appears that Cleveland is gearing up for an offensive strategy centered around Watson in the upcoming season.
