In his inaugural year as the head coach in Houston, Ryans defied expectations for the Texans in the 2023 season. Despite the team being projected to win a maximum of six games, they exceeded predictions, finishing the regular season with a 10-7 record and progressing to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. Ryans’ coaching prowess earned him a finalist spot for the AP NFL Coach of the Year, alongside other notable contenders like Dan Campbell, John Harbaugh, Kyle Shanahan, and Kevin Stefanski.
The Rockets’ homestand featured other special guests, adding excitement to the NBA games. Miami Dolphins cornerback and Houston native Xavien Howard participated in the Rockets’ First Shot event. Additionally, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, currently a pending free agent, attended one of the Rockets’ games, expressing anticipation about his upcoming free agency and the potential for a new chapter in his career.
