“That’s a solid group”: Texans coach hails ‘outstanding’ display…

The Houston Texans will not be participating in the AFC Championship game following their elimination with a 34-10 loss in the Divisional Round on January 20. Despite their exit, the Texans had an up-close view of the Baltimore Ravens, widely regarded as one of the league’s top teams. The Ravens displayed dominance on both ends of the field, restricting the Texans to a single field goal, with their lone touchdown originating from a 76-yard punt return by wide receiver Steven Sims.

Wide receiver Nico Collins acknowledged the Ravens’ prowess, stating, “That’s a solid group, and those boys deserve it all for sure. That’s a solid team on both offense and defense. It’s a solid group, so they deserve it.”

During the loss, Houston managed only 175 passing yards and struggled in the running game, concluding with a mere 38 yards on the ground. Despite the Ravens’ stellar defensive performance, their offense, led by presumed league MVP Lamar Jackson, was equally noteworthy. Jackson, an All-Pro quarterback, threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing remarkable athleticism by leading the Ravens in rushing with 100 yards and two rushing touchdowns on 11 attempts. Jonathan Greenard noted Jackson’s ability to adapt, saying, “He took what we gave him; he made plays when he needed to.”

While the Texans are now spectators, the Ravens aim to replicate their success against the Kansas City Chiefs in the conference championship game, aspiring for their first Super Bowl appearance since 2012. In that year, Baltimore secured a Super Bowl victory against the San Francisco 49ers, a journey that involved eliminating the Texans in the Divisional Round of the postseason, ultimately earning the Ravens their second franchise title.
