Breaking News: Elite O-tackle Carter Lowe has a ‘classy’ message as he commits to Ohio State…

In a significant development in college football recruiting, Carter Lowe, an elite offensive tackle prospect from Toledo, Ohio, has officially committed to Ohio State University. Lowe, who has been a target for the Buckeyes’ offensive line since his initial recruiting visit in September 2022, solidified his decision on the 247Sports YouTube Channel.

The journey for Lowe intensified after he received a scholarship offer from Ohio State on January 27, 2023, following a visit from offensive line coach Justin Frye to Whitmer High School. Lowe, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound athlete, had garnered attention during the Buckeyes’ dominant 77-21 victory over Toledo earlier in the season, prompting further interest from the coaching staff.

The announcement of Lowe’s commitment came after a thorough evaluation of his options, with Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee being the other schools in his final four. However, Lowe’s affinity for Ohio State had been growing steadily, especially since the Penn State game in October, and he expressed a strong connection with both Coach Frye and head coach Ryan Day.

Speaking about his decision, Lowe emphasized the all-around culture at Ohio State and the unique relationships he has developed with the coaching staff, particularly praising Coach Day. He highlighted Ohio State’s early offer as a crucial factor in his decision-making process, noting the significance of choosing a school that genuinely values him.

“For a while, I’ve been feeling good about Ohio State, since after the Penn State game (Oct. 21),” Lowe told Bucknuts. “Then I talked to my parents and we felt like there was no point waiting. The all-around culture at Ohio State, for sure. My relationship with coach Frye and coach (Ryan) Day. I’m big on relationships. And Ohio State was the first Power 5 school to offer me.”

Despite the competitive challenge of earning playing time in his freshman year at Ohio State, Lowe is determined to make an impact early in his college career. Acknowledging the need for high-level offensive tackles, he is committed to contributing to the program’s success and aims to start in his second year.

While living in Toledo naturally brought attention to Ohio State and Michigan in Lowe’s recruitment, he clarified that he did not grow up as a fan of either team. Instead, his decision was a personal one, driven by factors such as the coaching staff, the school’s culture, and the excitement of being a part of Ohio State.

Looking ahead, Lowe plans to actively participate in recruiting efforts for Ohio State, particularly focusing on bringing in talented defensive linemen. His commitment to the Buckeyes adds another dynamic player to their roster and reinforces their emphasis on building a strong offensive line. Lowe’s impressive stature, coupled with his four-star prospect ranking, positions him as a key asset for Ohio State’s football program in the 2025 season.
