Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson has issued a warning to the Atlanta Braves, stating that his team is determined to clinch the National League East title in the upcoming 2024 season. Thomson, in an interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Alex Coffey, outlined the Phillies’ strategy to prevent the Braves from establishing a substantial lead early in the division. Having secured a wild card spot and making deep playoff runs in recent years, the Phillies, finishing 3rd in 2022 and 2nd in 2023, have consistently challenged the Braves’ dominance. Despite successful wild card entries, Thomson expressed the team’s ambition to win the division outright, rejecting any notion that settling for a wild card spot is acceptable. He emphasized the unpredictability of the playoffs and the team’s focus on achieving consistency throughout the entire regular season to secure the NL East title.
