NFL Writer Urges Seahawks To Trade For The 25-year-old Quarterback…

In the upcoming NFL offseason, there’s speculation that the Seattle Seahawks might consider acquiring Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields, as suggested by Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports. The Seahawks had signed Geno Smith to a three-year deal the previous offseason, but Smith’s lackluster performance and injury struggles in the 2023 season may prompt the team to explore younger alternatives.

If the Bears decide to trade Fields, the Seahawks could view him as an appealing option for their quarterback position. To facilitate this move, the Seahawks might designate Smith as a post-June 1 cut, resulting in significant savings of $22.5 million for the team.

Fields, currently in a state of uncertainty with the Bears, faces the possibility of being traded. The Bears hold the No. 1 overall pick, leading many to believe they will select a quarterback in the upcoming draft, potentially marking the end of Fields’ time in Chicago. However, there’s also speculation that the Bears might retain Fields due to his popularity among teammates and growing favor within the organization.

During the past season, Fields participated in 13 games, missing four due to a dislocated thumb. His on-field performance included 2,562 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, with a completion rate of 61.4% and a passer rating of 86.3. Notably, he showcased his mobility by rushing for 657 yards and four touchdowns. The 25-year-old quarterback, drafted 11th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft from Ohio State, has faced inconsistency in his young career, partly attributed to the challenging circumstances with the Bears.
