Cowboys’ legend Troy Aikman reiterates major facts as he backs the 30-year-old QB after a devastating defeat in the Wild Card Round…

Troy Aikman defends Dak Prescott after a postseason loss…

“The question for him and the entire team is how they are going to play once you get into the postseason.”

Many Dallas Cowboys fans have been placing the blame on starting quarterback Dak Prescott for their loss in the Wild Card Round to the Green Bay Packers. However, Cowboys legend turned NFL broadcaster Troy Aikman feels otherwise, defending Prescott on Tuesday.

Prescott’s final stats in their loss to Green Bay aren’t too bad on paper, throwing for 403 yards and adding in three passing touchdowns.

However, the MVP candidate had two costly turnovers in the game, both coming in the first half, which put the Packers out to a huge lead early in the game that Dallas simply couldn’t overcome.

Prescott has now developed a reputation for not being able to perform when it matters most in the postseason. But Aikman still seems to believe in Prescott as the quarterback of the future in Dallas.

“We all draw on our past experiences,” Aikman told the media via The Athletic’s Jon Machota on Tuesday. “When we don’t have great experiences, those are hard to overcome. I think that is the challenge for Dak. The question for him and the entire team is how they are going to play once you get into the postseason. That makes for a long year. But I still believe in Dak. Until you do it, there will always be those criticisms. I know Peyton Manning went through that in his first three years.”

It’s a pretty unbiased analysis of Prescott from Aikman, acknowledging the questions still surrounding him while maintaining his belief in him.

Simply put, until Prescott gets the monkey off his back in the postseason, there will always be concerns about his ability to perform on the grandest stage. That being said, it is always nice to have the endorsement from someone like Aikman.
