O’s coach shares his verdict on Bolton chances and red card incident…

Leyton Orient coach Matt Harrold acknowledged that despite their victory at Brisbane Road, Bolton Wanderers had “two of the best chances” during the match. Dion Charles came close to scoring on the stroke of half time, hitting the post from close range, and was later denied by Sol Brynn in the second half. Orient secured the win with an early second-half goal from Dan Agyei, maintaining their strong form in League One.

Harrold expressed positivity about his team’s performance, stating that even in the first half, they were dominant and limited Bolton to one significant chance. He believed that Orient’s aggression, being on the front foot, and forcing mistakes showcased a strong performance. Despite this, Harrold acknowledged that Bolton had two notable opportunities in the game.

The coach took on post-match media duties due to Richie Wellens receiving a red card from referee Alex Chilowicz. Wellens was penalized for preventing Randell Williams from taking a throw-in. Harrold expressed frustration, suggesting that it felt like Bolton was gaining an unfair advantage by picking up the ball and advancing a few yards.

He analyzed the incident as a split-second reaction, describing it as appearing relatively mild upon review. However, he acknowledged the ambiguity surrounding the current rules and the challenge of understanding what actions are permissible.

The victory leaves Wanderers in the ninth position on the table, with at least two games in hand over teams above them. Looking ahead, Bolton will face Cheltenham at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Tuesday night in their upcoming league fixture.
