Texans Cornerback Steven Nelson Suffers Injury Against Ravens

The latest updates on the Houston Texans and NFL transactions.

On January 20, the Houston Texans faced the possibility of losing one of their key defensive players, cornerback Steven Nelson, during the Divisional Round matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium. In the third quarter, while attempting to tackle Justice Hill, Nelson sustained a head injury from a hard hit.

Although he initially struggled to get up, he managed to walk off the field independently. Subsequently, Nelson was taken to the sideline for evaluation and later headed to the locker room for a concussion assessment. As a vital part of the Texans’ defense this season, Nelson’s status remains uncertain, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Additionally, on January 17, wide receiver Noah Brown was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury suffered in the wild-card round victory over the Cleveland Browns. In response to the loss, the Texans signed multiple receivers, including moving Steven Sims from the practice squad to the active roster and signing wideout Damiere Byrd to the practice squad.

Other notable incidents include quarterback C.J. Stroud’s injury on December 6, the Houston Texans’ successful defensive play resulting in a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans on December 31, and left tackle Laremy Tunsil’s exit from the AFC South matchup against the Titans on December 17 due to a lower-body injury.

Moreover, quarterback Case Keenum started for the Texans on December 16 in place of the injured C.J. Stroud, surprising many who expected Davis Mills to take the field. The Titans’ decision to wear Houston Oilers throwback uniforms during their matchup against the Texans on December 13 also stirred controversy among fans.

In terms of roster changes, former Texans cornerback Jason Verrett joined the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad on December 12 after a brief stint with the Texans’ practice squad.

Additionally, the Texans faced struggles during their game against the New York Jets on December 10, finally scoring their first points with a touchdown by running back Devin Singletary at the end of the third quarter.

In the weeks leading up to these events, the Texans signed safety Adrian Amos on December 5, and rookie wide receiver Nico Collins scored his first touchdown on November 26.

Furthermore, former Texans linebacker Christian Kirksey announced his retirement on November 15, and star running back Jonathan Taylor signed a three-year extension with the Indianapolis Colts on October 7.

As the season progressed, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud earned AFC Offensive Rookie of the Month honors for his impressive performance in September. The Texans also faced a fan altercation during their game against the Indianapolis Colts on September 17.

In August, the Texans made roster moves, including claiming offensive tackle Jackie Chen off waivers and signing quarterback E.J. Perry, while also adding wide receiver Adam Humphries for depth.

Lastly, former Texans pass-rusher Charles Omenihu, now with the Kansas City Chiefs, received a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, stemming from a domestic violence case during his time with the San Francisco 49ers.
