“Mysterious ways”: Steelers’ Mason Rudolph has a heartwarming message for Pittsburgh despite playoff failure…

Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph shared his reflections on the conclusion of the 2023 season after Pittsburgh’s defeat to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round. The game, initially delayed due to a winter storm, marked the end of the Steelers’ playoff journey as Buffalo secured a spot in the AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Taking to social media on Friday, Rudolph expressed gratitude for the opportunity to don the Pittsburgh Steelers uniform in the 2023 season. He acknowledged the mysterious ways in which fate unfolds and highlighted the unparalleled joy of victory shared with teammates. Looking ahead, Rudolph expressed optimism for the upcoming year, proclaiming, “Here’s to 2024.”

Rudolph’s journey in the 2023 season was notable. Initially the third-string quarterback, he spent much of the season on the sidelines. However, circumstances changed when starting quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a high ankle sprain. Rudolph was called into action in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals and made a significant impact, leading the Steelers to a convincing 34-11 victory with 290 passing yards.

Despite a rocky start to the season, Rudolph’s contributions helped the Steelers secure a 10-7 record by winning their final three games. In the Wild Card Round against the Bills, Rudolph delivered a respectable performance, completing 22 passes for 229 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Throughout the regular season, he completed 55 passes for 719 yards, recording three touchdowns and zero interceptions.

While Rudolph may not have reached superstar status in 2023, his crucial role in leading the team to the playoffs showcased his value when the Steelers needed him. As the offseason unfolds, the question of Rudolph’s role in the Steelers’ quarterback room for the upcoming 2024 season remains intriguing.
