Breaking News: Diego Pavia, known for his notable performance against Auburn, is making a transfer to an SEC school…
In the previous November, Pavia showcased his talent by passing for 201 yards and three touchdowns in the Aggies’ 31-10 victory at Jordan-Hare Stadium. With one season of eligibility left, Pavia might have another opportunity to face Hugh Freeze and the Tigers on Nov. 2 when the Commodores visit Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Having led New Mexico State to a 10-5 finish in 2023, Pavia displayed impressive stats with 2,973 passing yards and 24 touchdowns, along with 923 rushing yards and seven scores. The Albuquerque native spent two seasons in junior college before joining the Aggies in 2022.
Pavia’s move to Vanderbilt means a reunion with former New Mexico State head coach Jerry Kill, who now serves as the chief consultant to the head coach and senior offensive advisor under Clark Lea. The Commodores, who finished with a 2-10 record last season, have recently brought on board former NMSU assistants Tim Beck and Melvin Rice.
Following the 2023 season, three Vanderbilt quarterbacks entered the transfer portal – AJ Swann to LSU, Ken Seals to TCU, and Walter Taylor to Colorado. Additionally, Vanderbilt has secured the services of two other transfer quarterbacks: Nate Johnson from Utah and Blaze Berlowitz, who served as Pavia’s backup at New Mexico State last season.
