Favorites for the top-ranked offensive linemen in Louisiana are the Vols…
Tennessee is on the list of favorites revealed by a four-star offensive lineman from Louisiana in the Class of 2025. The release was made on Friday afternoon.
Tennessee is one of the leading candidates to catch a highly-regarded Louisiana offensive-line target. Four-star Class of 2025 offensive lineman Devin Harper of Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, La., announced his top 10 college choices Friday afternoon in posts on his social media accounts, revealing that the Vols are one of nine SEC teams in the running for him.
Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Texas Tech joined Tennessee in the group of front-runners for the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Harper. Nearly thirty colleges have offered him scholarships, including all ten of his current top choices. He shared an image with the ten colleges’ logos on it.
He’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 109 overall prospect, the No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class, and the No. 2 junior from the state of Louisiana. He’s also a four-star prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, where he’s ranked the No. 125 overall player and No. 6 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 3 junior from Louisiana.
On August 1, Harper accepted an offer from Tennessee. He tagged Vols offensive analysts Micah James and McKenzie Milton in a post on his X account in which he announced his offer from Tennessee.
Gabe Brooks, a 247Sports scouting analyst, wrote in November after evaluating Harper that he was “pretty raw” but had “plenty of upside” as a prospect.
“Harper plays physical and sets the tone at the (line of scrimmage) for Shreveport (La.) Captain Shreve,” Brooks wrote at that time. “He is a block-finisher and down blocker by conviction. Hand placement and body control are works in progress, but Harper displays the requisite lateral mobility and above-average foot quickness. Hands aren’t always on target, but when they pop, they pop.
“Overall movement ability is above average, and the motor does not appear to be in question. Harper could represent a potential combo O-lineman in the eyes of some schools and in regards to his long-term projection. I like him a lot—prett raw, but seems to have plenty of upside.”
After attending a camp at LSU in June, Harper told 247Sports’ Bryce Koon that there was at least one major aspect of his game that he knew he still needed to improve.
“I know my strengths are my ability to be a good run blocker and just being nasty up front,” Harper told Koon at the time. “Coaches have let me know they love my footwork and being able to drive guys back in the run game. The biggest thing I want to and will continue to work on is my pass protection. I need to develop that more to become a more complete lineman.”
Tennessee has already received five commitments for the 2025 class, led by four-star tight end Jack VanDorselaer, a Top247 prospect from Southlake, Texas. The Vols’ 2025 class currently doesn’t include any projected offensive linemen.
