Ohio State’s standout running back, TreVeyon Henderson, has made a decisive announcement regarding his future, opting to stay with the Buckeyes for a fourth season rather than entering the 2024 NFL Draft. Prior to the Cotton Bowl, Henderson had expressed uncertainty about whether he should take the early leap into the draft, describing his thought process as “foggy.” However, after finding clarity, Henderson credited his faith and divine guidance for leading him to return for his senior year, emphasizing that this decision goes beyond personal goals.
Henderson’s choice to remain with Ohio State gains added significance with the recent transfer commitment of former Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins. This acquisition positions Henderson alongside a two-time All-SEC performer, creating what is poised to be the nation’s most formidable one-two backfield combination in the upcoming season.
While several Ohio State impact players contemplated early entry into the NFL Draft, Henderson’s decision aligns him with the majority who chose to stay, including key contributors like receiver Emeka Egbuka, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, and defensive ends J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer.
These players, forming the core of a team that started the season strong at 11-0, carry the motivation of overcoming setbacks in the latter part of the season, including a third consecutive loss to Michigan and a disappointing offensive performance in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri.
Henderson’s career has faced interruptions due to injuries, notably missing Ohio State’s 2022 losses to Michigan and Georgia in the Peach Bowl playoff semifinal due to a broken foot. This season, he experienced a month-long absence due to an upper-body injury sustained against Notre Dame.
Despite these setbacks, Henderson returned with impressive performances, rushing for significant yardage and demonstrating the potential that had marked him as a five-star prospect. With a renewed commitment for the upcoming fall, Henderson aims to fulfill the promise he brought to Columbus and contribute to Ohio State’s continued success.
