Jaguars Set to Interview Titans Assistant Chris Harris For DC Role…
The Jacksonville Jaguars are actively seeking a new defensive coordinator, eyeing candidates from the Tennessee Titans coaching staff. Among them is Chris Harris, currently serving as the Titans’ passing game coordinator and cornerbacks coach. This move follows the termination of the Jaguars’ former defensive coordinator, Mike Caldwell, along with seven other defensive assistants, leaving only three from the previous coaching staff.
In addition to Harris, the Jaguars are also set to interview Shane Bowen, the Titans’ defensive coordinator, demonstrating the team’s interest in members of Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff. Harris, a former Jaguars safety, played with the team in 2012 and has since built a reputable coaching career, particularly in the realm of defensive backs. His coaching journey includes stints with the Chicago Bears from 2013 to 2014, followed by a four-season tenure as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Chargers starting in 2016.

Harris then joined the Washington Commanders in 2020 as the defensive backs coach, playing a crucial role in Ron Rivera’s defensive strategy. His commendable work led to his subsequent hiring by the Titans in 2023, where he assumed the title of passing game coordinator and cornerbacks coach. The Jaguars are undertaking these interviews to find the right fit for the defensive coordinator position after a season where they ranked 17th in points per game, 22nd in yards per game, 13th in EPA/Play allowed, and 12th in Success Rate allowed during the 2023 season.
