Swindon Town has decided not to pursue the return of Dan Kemp to the County Ground following his successful loan stint. The 24-year-old, who impressively scored 16 goals in 27 appearances during the first half of the season, was recalled by MK Dons’ manager Mike Williamson on New Year’s Day. Despite efforts to secure Kemp permanently or extend his loan, these attempts proved unsuccessful, prompting the club to explore other options, according to manager Michael Flynn.
EFL rules limit a player to representing two teams in a single season, meaning if Kemp plays for the Dons this month, a move back to Swindon would be ruled out. Flynn acknowledged the disappointment of not securing Kemp’s continued presence but emphasized the necessity to move on and explore alternative targets. Flynn expressed his desire to have Kemp and another player, Jake Young, back at Swindon, but acknowledged the practical challenges of such reunions.
As Kemp prepares for his potential return to competitive action with Dons this weekend against Tranmere Rovers, Swindon Town introduces Dawson Devoy, who joined on loan last week and could make his debut against Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. The focus for Swindon Town has shifted from past attempts to secure Kemp’s services as the club actively seeks new opportunities in the transfer market.
