Latest Leicester City news as Southampton winger Ryan Fraser wades in on the Championship promotion race and whether the Saints can catch the Foxes
Southampton can “honestly catch” Leicester City in the championship title race, Saints winger Ryan Fraser has claimed.
His team is currently third in the league, 13 points behind leaders Leicester. They are on an 18-game unbeaten run, though Enzo Maresca’s men are without a defeat in 10.
Despite the large gap between the two teams after 26 games, Fraser believes Southampton are capable of catching Leicester if they continue their incredible run of form. They are focused on catching Ipswich first, but the winger is confident City can follow soon after.
“I think if we aim for Leicester, we can honestly catch them,” Fraser told the Daily Echo.
“Some people might think they are too far ahead of us, but if we can prolong this streak, the points will start to come down before you know it.
“Ipswich is the focus. It’s such a football thing to say, but if we have to take each game at a time,.
“If you look at how many points we have gained on Ipswich, then we have a great chance if we keep doing that.”
