C.J. Stroud Had Perfect Response to Critics of His Poor Test Score at NFL Draft…
Prior to the 2023 NFL Draft it was revealed that C.J. Stroud posted the worst S2 cognitive test score of any quarterback in that year’s class.
While the poor test score did not scare the Texans away from selecting the former Ohio State standout with the second pick of the draft, critics still asserted that Stroud might struggle at the next level based on the S2.
Stroud proved all the naysayers wrong by posting one of the best statistical seasons of any rookie signal-caller in NFL history. The 6′ 3″ 218 pound gun-slinger finished eighth among all quarterbacks in passing yards (4,108) despite missing two games after suffering a concussion in Week 14 against the Jets.
While appearing on the The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, the emerging talent brushed off those who criticized him by simply telling them to look at the results.
“The eye in the sky don’t lie. You watch the film, put on a tape even from college,” said Stroud.
Stroud, who led the Texans to a 10-7 record and an AFC South title, revealed that he had a more complex scheme in college than he does thus far in Houston.
“You can’t play at Ohio State under coach [Ryan Day], … his offense is pretty deep when it comes to being knowledgeable,” Stroud said. “You have to know everything. I even had more responsibilities in college than I do now in this offense, in this scheme.”
DeMeco Ryans and the Texans will likely open up the playbook more when they host the Cleveland Browns on Saturday in Super Wild-Card Weekend.
Houston are currently are 2.5-point home underdogs against the Browns at SI Sportsbook.
