The Vikings’ confirm ‘worrying’ injury setback as the 24-year-old wide receiver ruled out ahead of Week 18 regular-season finale against the Lions…

The Vikings took action ahead of their Week 18 regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions, as they moved receiver Jalen Nailor to injured reserve due to a concussion sustained on December 3 in Las Vegas. In his place, receiver Lucky Jackson was signed to the 53-man roster after being elevated from the practice squad in the previous two weeks. Jackson had minimal offensive snaps but contributed significantly on special teams.

Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed Nailor’s absence, citing ongoing limited symptoms and the need for complete medical clearance. Despite a challenging season marked by injuries, O’Connell expressed optimism about Nailor’s future and his commitment to his development.

Nailor’s second season concluded with modest statistics compared to his rookie year, recording three catches for 29 yards on six targets. In addition to the offensive changes, the Vikings addressed defensive needs by elevating cornerbacks Joejuan Williams and Jaylin Williams from the practice squad, compensating for the absence of Byron Murphy, Jr., and Mekhi Blackmon.

Joejuan Williams, who had a stint with the Bears after initially being with the Vikings during training camp, returned to Minnesota’s practice squad and contributed in Week 11 against Denver. He played 17 defensive snaps and 14 special team snaps in that game.

Undrafted rookie Jaylin Williams, who made his NFL debut against the Lions in Week 16, was also elevated for the past two games, accumulating playing time on both defense and special teams.

As the Vikings (7-9) seek a win and rely on other game outcomes for playoff contention, the Lions (11-5) have already secured the NFC North title and are vying for a higher seed. The Week 18 NFC Playoff Picture can be found here. The game is set to kick off at noon (CT) on Sunday.
