Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay shares ‘worrying’ updates and confirms that the 31-year-old star will be out with a critical shoulder injury…

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Monday that veteran tight end Tyler Higbee sustained a significant shoulder injury during Sunday’s game against the New York Giants. The injury was later specified as a dislocated left shoulder. Despite the injury, Higbee remarkably played over 90% of the offensive snaps in the game, showcasing his determination and resilience. It remains uncertain when exactly the injury occurred. Higbee’s performance against the Giants was commendable, contributing to the team’s success with key first downs and six receptions for 62 yards.

Higbee has been dealing with various injuries throughout the season, as noted by McVay in November when he mentioned that the tight end was “fighting through a lot of stuff.” The recent dislocated shoulder injury adds to Higbee’s physical challenges. This development raises the possibility that the Rams may opt to rest some key players, including Higbee, in the upcoming Week 18 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

While a victory in Week 18 could secure the Rams’ 6th seed position, they have already clinched a playoff spot. In the worst-case scenario, if they decide to rest players and lose, they could drop from the 6th to the 7th seed. However, they could still maintain the 6th seed even with a loss if the Green Bay Packers lose to the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks defeat the Arizona Cardinals.

If Higbee is unable to play, Davis Allen is expected to step in as his replacement. This might not be a setback, as Allen has demonstrated solid performance in limited opportunities on the field. Fans are eager to see more of the rookie tight end, especially after he displayed potential with four catches, 50 yards, and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

In addition to Higbee’s injury, McVay disclosed that safety Jordan Fuller suffered an ankle sprain against the Giants. If Fuller is unable to play, Russ Yeast is likely to step in as his replacement. Fortunately, these injuries come during a less crucial week in terms of the playoff push. The Rams are now guaranteed postseason play, and the focus may shift to ensuring a healthy team heading into wild card weekend. While maintaining the 6th seed would be ideal, prioritizing the team’s overall health appears to be the primary consideration at this point.
