Swindon Town’s Australian owner, Clem Morfuni, has extended an offer to young midfielder Eddie Ince from Brisbane Roar, signaling his intent to bring home-grown talent to the League Two club. Ince, a prospect for Brisbane Roar, recently completed a trial with Swindon Town, catching the eye of coach Michael Flynn, who has proposed a long-term contract for the talented midfielder.
Morfuni has been transparent about his desire to transform Swindon Town into a developmental hub for emerging Australian players. He has even raised the prospect of establishing an academy in Sydney with the specific aim of nurturing young Australian talent. Despite not having played in an A-League match for Brisbane, Ince has yet to make a final decision about his future. Currently, he is undergoing a second trial with Brentford B, a club previously associated with Western Sydney Wanderers’ Lachlan Brook.
Initially discovered by Bournemouth scouts during a school tour in the UK, Ince remains under the watchful eye of the Premier League club. Swindon Town and Brentford hold the first options on the young talent, who gained attention for his performances in Brad Maloney’s U-17s during last June’s Asian Cup in Thailand, featuring against Japan and Saudi Arabia.
Ince, who boasts Japanese and UK heritage with his mother hailing from Japan and his father from England, has yet to finalize his next steps as the offers from Swindon Town and Brentford remain on the table.
