Recent defeats against Southampton and Millwall saw QPR concede from a free-kick and a corner, highlighting the urgency to improve in this aspect of the game.
Acknowledging the challenge, Cifuentes emphasized that fixing set-piece issues is not a simple task, but he remains calm, drawing confidence from his past coaching experiences in Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, where his teams excelled at both offensive and defensive set-pieces.
Cifuentes expressed pride in his previous achievements, recalling instances when critics claimed his Aalborg team in Denmark only scored from set-pieces, a notion he refuted. He emphasized the significance of set plays in the game and assured that it’s only a matter of time before QPR finds ways to create chances from set pieces.
Despite limited on-pitch training time due to a busy schedule, Cifuentes highlighted the team’s focus on video analysis, using clips to illustrate the timing of runs and attacking zones against opponents.
