Hull City boss Liam Rosenior responds to recent speculations as he delivers his verdict on the Derby County transfer link…

Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior has dismissed speculation linking his team to a move for Derby County winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing as the transfer window approaches. Reports suggested that Hull City might be interested in signing Mendez-Laing, given that the 31-year-old is entering the final six months of his current contract with Derby County, putting the East Midlands club in a precarious situation.

Mendez-Laing, previously with Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday, has showcased impressive form in League One under Paul Warne this season, contributing six goals and 10 assists. This performance has reportedly attracted attention from several Championship clubs, including Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town.

However, Rosenior dispelled any notion that he is considering Mendez-Laing as a potential addition to his squad, expressing surprise when the winger’s name was brought up. Rosenior emphasized that if he had an interest in Derby’s players, he would directly approach the club, highlighting his positive relationship with them.

While ruling out Mendez-Laing, Rosenior hinted at potential transfer activity, suggesting that Hull City might be looking to Derby County for recruitment in early January. Max Bird, a midfielder, remains a key target for Hull City. Rosenior had actively pursued Bird during the summer, but plans were disrupted due to the 23-year-old’s ankle injury. With Bird now recovered, Hull City may resume their pursuit of the midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.
