Wolves handed a ‘huge’ transfer boost in pursuit of a 32-year-old star after Aston Villa’s interest…

The latest Aston Villa news from Birmingham Live includes an update on former Villa target Marcos Acuna.

Sevilla are reportedly keen to offload Marcos Acuna for less than what Aston Villa offered to pay for him in the summer amid Wolves’ interest.

That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla, who claims that Acuna is one of the players to have been put on the transfer list as the club looks to alleviate their financial situation in the new year. Sevilla were knocked out of the Champions League, and it is believed the lack of income from the European competition has led the club to take the decision.

Acuna, meanwhile, is claimed to be one of the big earners in the squad. Villa are reported to have tried to sign the 32-year-old in the summer after contacts took place between parties.

Villa were claimed by Vamos Mi Sevilla to have offered around €10 million for Acuna, which was deemed too low by the La Liga outfit. The Wolves have also emerged as a potential destination for the Argentine.

He was said to be valued at around €12 million (£10 million), but the club’s stance appears to have changed. Sevilla “would be willing” to sell him now for €9 million (£8 million).

Acuna has a year and a half left on his contract, and to avoid losing him on a free in 2025, the Spanish side would welcome a sale now. For Villa however, it is not thought they are still interested in the Argentine after Lucas Digne stayed at B6 despite interest in the summer.
