DeMeco Ryans reveals key reasons for his optimism about the 22-year-old rookie’s return…

Houston Texans’ rookie, Will Anderson Jr., may be poised to miss his third consecutive game due to a severe ankle sprain, as reported by KPRC. Although there’s optimism in his recovery, with Anderson shedding his walking boot and showing improvement, his absence from Wednesday afternoon’s practice at the Houston Methodist Training Center raises questions about his readiness. The injury originated during the Texans’ Week 30-6 loss to the New York Jets on December 10.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans provided insights into Anderson’s progress, stating, “We will see where Will is going. He has made some strides and is moving in the right direction. We are very hopeful to get Will back.” Anderson, pivotal to the team’s defensive strategies, had displayed his prowess in his rookie season before the injury setback.

Notably, during the Texans’ victory over the Arizona Cardinals on November 19, he contributed significantly with two tackles and a crucial sack. A standout moment occurred in the final moments of the fourth quarter, with Anderson’s pressure leading to a game-saving defensive play against the Cardinals.

In the 13 games played this season, Anderson has accumulated impressive stats, including 42 tackles, 27 solo hits, 19 quarterback hits, and 5.0 sacks. While uncertainties linger about Anderson’s return, the team received positive news regarding another rookie, quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Stroud, recovering from a concussion, took a notable step forward by returning to practice after a two-week absence. The developments with both Anderson and Stroud will likely impact the team’s performance in the upcoming games, and Coach Ryans remains hopeful for Anderson’s return, emphasizing his significant role in the team’s defensive accomplishments.
