ALAN SHEEHAN: “WE WILL NEED TO DIG DEEP AGAIN”.
Interim head coach Alan Sheehan urges Swansea City to maintain their resilience on the road as they gear up to face Southampton in today’s Boxing Day clash at St Mary’s (3 pm).
Having secured seven points in their last four matches, including a late victory against Preston North End courtesy of Jamie Paterson’s goal, the Swans head to Southampton with the majority of their recent points earned away from home, facing Rotherham United and Stoke City. Despite not reaching the desired performance levels, the team demonstrated character to secure points.
Sheehan acknowledges that Southampton, an in-form side in the league, will present a different challenge than Preston’s physical style. He emphasizes the need for quick recovery and preparation, anticipating another test for his team.
“We have displayed resilience away from home, building the character required to secure wins and points,” Sheehan notes, emphasizing the team’s progress at the halfway point of the season. While acknowledging the current standings may not be ideal, he expresses hope in continuing to build confidence within the squad.
Recognizing that each game presents distinct challenges, Sheehan stresses the importance of putting on a strong performance at Southampton. He underlines the significance of cultivating a winning mentality, particularly when aware of areas for improvement, as the team aims to make positive strides forward.
