Auburn’s pursuit of transfer portal targets is the focus, with three acquisitions already made: wide receiver Robert Lewis from Georgia State, defensive lineman Gage Keys from Kansas, and linebacker Dorian Mausi from Duke. The transfer activity, although less eventful than the previous year, is attributed to limited spots on Auburn’s roster, prompting a selective approach by the coaching staff.
While December primarily centered on concluding the 2024 high school recruiting class, ranked seventh nationally, attention now shifts to the transfer portal. Hugh Freeze and his team anticipate more activity as names continue to emerge, and players have until January 3 to enter the portal. The following weekend opens the visit window for teams to host transfer visitors before the spring semester commences.
A review of Auburn’s current roster indicates a focus on securing an interior offensive lineman, possibly an offensive tackle, an additional defensive lineman, and one or two additions to the secondary.
The potential inclusion of another wide receiver is also under consideration. Specific names are already identified as Auburn targets, with more expected to surface in the coming weeks.
