Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has extended warm wishes to striker Billy Sharp, who recently joined Championship side Hull City in pursuit of his sixth promotion. Sharp, now 37, participated in his initial training session at the Cottingham training base ahead of Hull City’s upcoming match against Bristol City on Friday. Although he won’t be immediately involved on the field, his debut is anticipated in the FA Cup third-round clash against Birmingham City on January 6.
Hull City’s head coach, Liam Rosenior, sought to reinforce the team’s forward options for the latter part of the season, aiming to alleviate the pressure on Liam Delap and Aaron Connolly. The move for Keinan Davis in the summer fell through after he opted to join Italian side Udinese.
With an illustrious Championship career, Sharp holds the current goal-scoring record with 130 goals, achieved during his time at Sheffield United. Having departed Bramall Lane in the summer, he played for L.A. Galaxy in the MLS, scoring six goals in nine starts before returning to England to continue his remarkable career as one of the EFL’s most formidable marksmen.
Sharp recently featured on Ben Foster’s popular podcast, expressing his confidence in making an impact in the Championship. Foster, the former Manchester United and England goalkeeper, shared words of encouragement on social media, congratulating Sharp on joining Hull City and expressing anticipation for witnessing his goal-scoring prowess in the Championship once again.
