Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud remains in the concussion protocol, raising doubts about his availability for the upcoming AFC clash against Cleveland on Sunday. Coach DeMeco Ryans indicated on Wednesday that Stroud’s condition has improved, but clearance for his return remains uncertain.
While expressing optimism about Stroud’s recovery, Ryans emphasized the individualized nature of concussion healing, noting that the timeline varies for each person. He affirmed the team’s commitment to prioritizing Stroud’s health, stating, “The most important thing is making sure C.J. is healthy, and when he’s ready to go, he’ll be ready to go.”
Stroud sustained the concussion on December 10 during a 30-6 loss to the Jets when his head made contact with the turf after a hit in the fourth quarter. The quarterback’s status for Sunday’s pivotal game against Cleveland hinges on the progression through the concussion protocol, with Ryans assuring updates on Stroud’s readiness will be provided as soon as available.
