Kirk Cousins provides a warm update as he reflects on injury status, his future with the Vikings, and his wife’s Super Bowl dreams…

In a recent appearance on Adam Schefter’s podcast, Kirk Cousins, the injured quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, delved into various topics, offering insights into his mindset and plans for the future.

Cousins reflected on the moment he tore his Achilles during Week 8 at Lambeau Field, recognizing it as the first major injury of his NFL career. The incident sparked concerns about his football future, contemplating whether he would play again. Despite turning 36 next August, Cousins expressed confidence in his ability to secure a significant contract as a starting quarterback in 2024, emphasizing the need to prove himself through recovery and future performance.

Expressing a consistent desire to continue his career with the Vikings, Cousins reiterated his preference for staying in Minnesota. However, the decision might hinge on negotiations and the financial aspect during free agency.

Detailing his recovery process, Cousins underwent surgery in Minnesota three days after the injury, followed by two weeks in a hard cast and subsequent use of a scooter. He has progressed to a walking boot and actively participates in team meetings, aspiring to return to the sidelines soon. While there’s no specific timeline, Cousins believes he is ahead in his rehab, anticipating a transition from walking to jogging in late January or early February.

Cousins shared his communication with fellow quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who also experienced an Achilles injury early in the season. Seeking advice on rhythm, routine, and effective modalities, Cousins found value in learning from someone ahead in the recovery process. He even created a power ranking of athletes who tore their Achilles, with the mythical hero Achilles topping the list.

Addressing the topic of a potential Super Bowl return, Cousins laughed off the idea of playing in the game if the Vikings make it without him. Despite his absence, his wife, Julie, remains hopeful, envisioning a scenario where Cousins could play in the Super Bowl. Cousins, however, acknowledged his supportive stance from the sidelines and the prospect of cheering on his team.
