Bears WR makes the case for Justin Fields to stay starter instead of Caleb Williams or Drake Maye: “What makes him not a good quarterback for the Chicago Bears right now”?

Despite Justin Fields’ two interceptions in the recent loss to the Browns, which brought the Bears’ season record to 5-9, wide receiver D.J. Moore is unwavering in his support for Fields as the Bears’ quarterback beyond 2023. Moore expressed disbelief when reporters questioned Fields’ future in Chicago, asking, “Like, what makes him not the quarterback for the Chicago Bears right now?”

Although the Bears currently hold the No. 1 and No. 5 picks in the projected 2024 draft, with top quarterback prospects like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye, Moore defended Fields, dismissing the potential newcomers, saying, “I don’t think they’re better than Justin.”

Moore, who had a productive season with over 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth time in his NFL career, remains confident in Fields despite the looming draft prospects. The real uncertainty lies in whether the Chicago front office shares Moore’s assessment of the 2024 quarterback class.

Despite Fields’ evident star talent, showcased in back-to-back seasons as the Bears’ starter, particularly as a runner, challenges, including turnovers, have marred his record at 8-26 while under center in Chicago. This has sparked concerns about his long-term viability as the team’s starting quarterback.
