C.J. Stroud Injury Update: Texans QB Still In Concussion Protocol, Doubtful To Start

As per the reports Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is still in the NFL’s concussion protocol, putting his status for Sunday’s game against the Titans in uncertainty.

The QB was reported to not participate again Thursday’s practice, indicating it is unlikely he will clear concussion protocol in time to play in Sunday’s game against the Titans.

Apparently, Stroud is not at the Texans’ training facility, recovering from a hit by Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams on last Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets.

In the fourth quarter suffered the injury on a second-and-10 play from the Houston 25-yard line with just under seven minutes to play in regulation, and was replaced by Davis Mills.

Before leaving the last game, he had the worst game of his rookie season, completing 10 of his 23 passes for 91 yards and failing to throw a touchdown.

Following his absence from Thursday’s practice, Aaron Wilson of KPRC reported the Rookie of the Year favorite will not practice but still have one more chance on Friday.

Texans backup quarterback Davis Mills said via KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson,

“As much as he can right now, he’s still in the protocol so he hasn’t been in the building too much. C.J. has always been the guy who’s going to be extremely generous and make sure his teammates are in the best spot they can be to go out and execute on gameday.”
