“Speculation around him”: – Journalist thinks the £15m Southampton star could move to the Premier League in January…

Southampton striker Che Adams, experiencing a lackluster season in the Championship, might be on the verge of a move to the Premier League as the January transfer window approaches. Journalist Dean Jones has provided insights into Adams’ potential departure from St Mary’s Stadium, suggesting that Premier League clubs could be interested in acquiring the Scotland international.

Adams, who began the season brightly, has faced a goal drought under manager Russell Martin. The emergence of Adam Armstrong as Southampton’s primary attacking force has intensified speculation about Adams’ future. With his £30,000-per-week contract set to expire next summer, there is a possibility that Southampton might seek to capitalize on his transfer value in the upcoming winter window.

In the event that Southampton fails to secure a new club for Adams or extend his contract, there is a risk that he might leave on a free transfer. Given that the club invested £15 million to bring him from Birmingham City, there may be a desire to recoup a portion of that transfer fee.

Adams was a subject of transfer talks during the summer, with Everton reportedly in discussions to sign him for around £12 million. However, the move did not materialize, and Adams remained at Southampton after the transfer deadline. Wolverhampton Wanderers also showed interest later in the summer, negotiating a loan deal with an option to buy, but the deal was halted on deadline day.

Despite Adams recently breaking his goal drought with a crucial goal against Watford, his struggles and the prolific form of Armstrong might prompt Southampton to consider selling him. Jones, the journalist, has suggested that Adams hasn’t seemed at his best since the close of the summer transfer window, raising the possibility of a necessary departure from the club for the Scottish striker.
