Bouncing Back: C.J. Stroud’s Status, Drones, and New Uniforms Timeline Unveiled in Texans’ Fans Q&A

Luis Salazar inquired about the status of C.J. Stroud, and Dear Drew (DD) responded that Stroud is currently in the concussion protocol. Stroud needs to pass several tests to be cleared for practice and play. While there’s no definitive ruling out of his participation against the Titans on Sunday, DD advised against expecting to see Stroud under center.

DeMeco Ryans, the Texans’ head coach, mentioned in a press conference that they would monitor Stroud’s progress throughout the week, expressing hope for his recovery. However, Ryans noted that returning the week after a concussion is uncommon, highlighting the importance of prioritizing players’ health over immediate on-field needs.

In response to Jackson Ginter’s question about Davis Mills starting in Stroud’s absence, DD confirmed that Mills is likely to start, given Stroud’s concussion protocol. Mills had taken over for the final eight snaps in the previous game after Stroud’s exit. DD highlighted Mills’ experience with 26 previous starts over the last two seasons and his readiness to step in whenever needed.

Adrian Costilla sought insights into the Texans’ performance against the Jets, and DD acknowledged it as a bad day. He mentioned the challenge of facing a formidable defense without key pass-catchers Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz. The additional blow of losing Nico Collins to injury early in the game made the situation more challenging.

DD, echoing Ryans and the players, attributed the loss to the Jets making plays while the Texans struggled. Looking ahead, DD expressed optimism for a bounce-back performance against the Titans this Sunday in Nashville.
