Ilias Chair, the Moroccan playmaker, has particularly flourished under Cifuentes’ management after a subdued start to the season under Ainsworth. The 26-year-old emerged as a reliable asset for the team, showcasing his skills and impact on the pitch.
In a recent Championship clash against Preston, Chair surprisingly began the game on the bench. However, Cifuentes’ decision proved to be a stroke of managerial brilliance. At halftime, with the score tied at nil, Cifuentes made a crucial attacking substitution, bringing on Chair for midfielder Jack Colback.
Chair’s introduction to the game completely transformed the dynamics. Ten minutes after stepping onto the field, Chair, positioned on the left-wing, delivered a tantalizing ball into the box, setting up Paul Smyth for the opening goal.
